On vacation...

McKenna: Crowned

... but occasionally studying. That's what Greg McKenna, Steds Junior, is doing while studying abroad in Toledo, Spain. Leaving campus in late August, McKenna has been studying in Toledo for the semester, and while he has classes- some classes- he has been able to take advantage of traveling about in Spain. One of those travels took him to the ancient fortress complex of the Alhambra in Granada. Originally constructed by the Moors, the Alhambra changed hands, ultimately become the royal palace of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella following the Reconquista in 1492. It's also where Christopher Columbus stopped by before being sent off the Americas by the monarchs. Despite some Renaissance additions, the palace has maintained its Moorish architectural style. When visiting, McKenna saw something that reminded him of his home, Steds. On his seeing a crown above a doorway at Alhambra, McKenna said, "Maybe not exactly the crown of St. Edward, but I think it could still work."
