... has a tendency to repeat itself, especially at St. Edward's. Again, we take a break from the war to bring you a story from the home front, and again, to surprise of many, an upstart freshmen duo won the Hall's pool tourney. Freshmen, Max Daly and Ryan Hyer, considered long shots at best, emerged as a pool powerhouse, taking down their older and more experienced competitors, and landing themselves in the finals. Despite the late night practicing in the Billards Room by others- and distractions from the crowd during the final game- nothing could throw off the focus nor disrupt this pool duo. But less this achievement be forgotten, like many things learned in classes, this pair will be immortalized as their names are added to the Hall's pool tourney plaque in glory everlasting. On their victory, Daly declared, "To quote the great Ricky Bobby, 'I’m the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the mornin’ and exude excellence'” while pool partner Hyer shared, "Some may call us lucky, but I’d rather be lucky than good."
Congratulations to Daly and Hyer!
