Opening Float 2017
...a sight to behold. Once again, St. Edward's took to the Fr. Ted Hesbugh, C.S.C., Memorial Library's reflecting pool on the morning of game day, and as they did, they brought along their cherished inflatables. Swans, sharks, and a host of other air filled animals and objects took a splash in the sapphire colored water of the reflecting pool. Still yet, the Gentlemen not only took a pre-game splash but also gave a special cheer to the ND Marching Band as they passed by. Without doubt, it was a sight to behold. On participating in his first float, Ben Merrick, Steds freshman, said, "My first time floating was absolutely amazing. I will never forget the experience of running through the reflecting pool's blue water as we all screamed and yelled. Floating can accurately be compared to basket weaving. You have no idea what's going on, but it's absolutely thrilling to watch!"
Interestingly, a crowd gathered to watch the Gentlemen as they kept their pre-game tradition, and how could they not?! One person in the crowd remarked, "Who are these guys with this marvelous tradition?"
Still yet, while acknowledging the participants' outlandish attire and antics, one unnamed mother remarked, "They sure look like fine young Gentlemen!" Indeed, they do unnamed mother... indeed they do!
