… the shuttlecocks fly! And as they flew, so did the hopes and dreams of so many Stedsmen. This cherished event was a showcase for the Gentlemen to demonstrate their skill and prowess with racquet and shuttlecock. The Showdown saw the rise and fall of many teams, but in the end, faced off against another group of upstarts.The two teams battled it out before a crowd of badminton diehards and enthusiasts who were treated to a most excellent championship game. The spirited and lively game saw eke out a win over. Congratulations to juniors, Jake Buckendorf and Tucker Simon, who defeated last year's winners, Aidan Tompkins and Ryan Connolly, in an exciting and exhilarating championship game. Oh, yes, freshmen Garret Hanlon and Kyle McKay took third place, and they are rising badminton stars for sure. More to come!
On their win, Limon declared, "Life is better with a racquet in your hand…in a way it just becomes an extension of your body" while his fellow player, Buckendorf, added, "Tucker and I put on a great performance today relying on our chemistry that’s been molded over the past 3 years in this beloved dorm. Go Steds!"
