... or not? We continue on in our series with Syringa reticulata or commonly known as Japanese tree lilac.Japanese tree lilac typically grows as a small tree or large shrub. Its best ornamental feature is its showy, fragrant, creamy white flowers which bloom in upright panicles to 12” long in late spring to early summer. Flowers give way to loose clusters of brown capsules that last into winter. But is it edible? Well, the petals of the flowers can be used in a tea, but other than that, we should stay away. On the Japanese tree lilac, Fr. Terry Ehrman CSC said, "There's not enough tea to make me drink this tea."
