Pondering in progress: Fr. Bill and the Gentlemen
... ponders. Yes, a gentleman does many things, and one of those things is to ponder various and sundry things. And thanks to the A Gentleman Ponders lecture series, the Gentlemen can ponder this and that, academic topics or more practical ones, all in the comfort of the Gregorian Lounge. Recently, Fr. Bill Miscamble, CSC, Professor of History Emeritus and native son of Australia, kicked off the inaugural pondering with a discussion of Catholicism and American politics from JFK to Biden. Sharing his thoughts and insights first, Miscamble then opened the pondering to questions and debate, which was lively and robust. On the evening of pondering, Luke Guenthner, Steds Senior convener of the pondering as Steds D.A.D. (Director of Academic Discernment), and resident Pennsylvanian, shared, "From Hall Government to Student Senate to the Oval Office, we learned all the tips and tricks to be successful in politics. Perhaps, the next JFK is already in our presence?!"
