... all fun and games at St. Ed's! Well, we cannot deny that we have more than our fair share of that, but at the same time, we always have an eye on the prize... becoming our best selves both in and out of the classroom. And that was the catalyst for something new at Steds this year... StedsCare. What is StedsCare? It is an opportunity to address the mental needs of residents. With help of Dr. Sherry Kelly, physiologist and neurophysiologist, friend of St. Ed's and mother of ND senior, and Zach Zywiec, Steds StedsCare Commissioner, Stedsmen had a bespoke evening with the Dr. addressing mental health needs particular to their class. Over two evenings, Dr. Kelly addressed freshmen, then sophomore, juniors, and seniors all together, in a discussion that gave simple, practical techniques to neutralize those things that plague and cripple young minds. Oh, yes. Steds invited the ladies of Lewis and Breen Phillips Hall to join them... and yes... there was food. On the evening, Caden Hickey, Steds freshman and resident Illinoisan, shared, "This is so timely! StedsCare is a great opportunity for Stedsmen to come together to learn about and discuss difficult mental health issues that affect all of us. It does the mind good!"
