Vogel: Stedsman and Grammy nominated singer
... well, the voting is isn't over just yet, but we hope it's Edward "Ned" Vogel '17! Yes, this former Stedsman, Director of Music and Resident Assistant at Steds, has been nominated for not one BUT two Grammies. Vogel sang on two albums that received nominations in the Best Choral Performance category. The first album is Apollo’s Fire’s recording of Handel’s Israel in Egypt. He was actually a soloist on this album, and so his name appears on the nomination itself, which is exciting to say the least. The second album is a collection of choral pieces by composer Jake Runestad recorded by True Concord, for which he sang in the ensemble. On being nominated, Vogel shared, “It was an incredible honor to have been nominated, especially in a year where so many amazing classical albums were released! I’m really proud of the work my colleagues and I put into these albums, and I think I speak for us all when I say we are humbled that hard work has been recognized to this degree.”
