Out...

Marshall with newest Stedsmen, Henry and Luke...

... and about. With classes over, Stedsmen are free to be out and about, and so, periodically, we'll hear where they are and what they're doing. We recently heard from David Hale ’23 and his travels to Ireland and Scotland, but today, our focus is on a junior from California, the one, the only, Marshall Smith. Enduring the May grey and June gloom of Southern California, Smith now enjoys the warmth of sunshine and pleasant ocean breezes in Lisbon, Portugal. But Smith is more than sunning himself and taking in a different ocean… he’s there for World Youth Day 2023. Joining Campus Ministry’s delegation, Smith is in Portugal with other ND students for the week, attending various events, one being a Mass with Pope Francis. But in the midst of it all, Smith ran into not one but two of NEWEST Stedsmen of the Class of 2027. Small world getting smaller! On attending World Youth Day 2023, Smith shared, "World Youth Day Lisbon has been an incredible opportunity to celebrate the Catholic faith. Throughout the week, I’ve met pilgrims from all corners of the world, and even some new Stedsmen!"

Still, on chance European encounter, Henry, incoming Steds freshman, said, "It’s impressive to be able to connect even when I haven’t stepped on campus or been to Steds at all. I feel like I haven’t even showed that I am a Stedsman but already I’ve been welcomed into this great community."

... but did Marshall bring his Steds flag?...

... well, he certainly brought his smile.
