… over Spring Break. Well, for two Stedsmen, Colin Stevens and James Longhurst, it was off to tourney play with their ND Ultimate Frisbee team, Papal Rage. Traveling to the playoffs in Myrtle Beach, Steds senior James "Hook" Longhurst (bottom row 3rd from the right) and sophomore Colin "Splash" Stevens #50, were playing for keeps. As the tourney began, the team started the tournament with a win over Lehigh, then upsetting highly ranked Georgia Tech, and finally finishing pool play by defeating Harvard. But Papal Rage couldn’t rest on its laurels. The rage had to continue on with tournament play in Tallahassee.
As season continues, there is certainly more to come. But on the season thus far and recent performances in Myrtle Beach and Tallahassee, Stevens disclosed,
“Going into the season, there was a lot of uncertainty about how good the team would be this year, especially since we graduated a lot of very good seniors last year. The first couple tournaments seemed to verify that with some poor performances. However, as the team got closer and developed more chemistry, we started playing better including beating a lot of strong teams a month ago in South Carolina and breaking seed by a lot. Most recently, we had a tournament in Tallahassee where we placed fourth, giving us high hopes for sectionals and regionals coming up soon. I know I am looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing how far we can make it.”
Good luck Papal Rage!
