This is not the "tylenol tree" that drops safe and effective acetaminophen. Instead, Fr. Terry Ehrman, C.S.C., theologian and botanist, informs that this is none other than Celastrus Scandent, or more commonly known as American Bittersweet. The Bittersweet, found on campus around the lakes, has bright yellow-orange fruit that ripens in October to November. When asked if the Bittersweet berries could be eaten, Fr. Ehrman said, "You'll be better off using it in your Thanksgiving and Christmas flower arrangements."
