Tailgate, tailgates, and

A rose, Laurie, between two thorns, Nate and Pete

... more tailgates. With the return of fans this football season, something else that has made a reappearance has been the ND tailgate. Football tailgates can be spotted all about campus, even off campus too, but the greatest concentration is just south of the football stadium. The south side parking lots are transformed by Notre Dame football fans into a sea of cars, grills, tents, and flags. But amid the sea of humanity, there is a place, a tailgate, where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came... especially if you're from Steds! That special, stand out tailgate is none other than Laurie and Dave McKeon's tailgate. This very long connected and storied ND family, merge their love of Notre Dame with their Wisconsin roots to deliver a tailgate like none other. It really is the tailgate to end all tailgates! Even Fr. Ralph declared it a special place. But don't take his word for it... listen to Pete McKeon, former Steds AR and Red Room podcast co-host. On his family's tailgate, McKeon shared, “We here at the McKeon family tailgate understand that an army marches on its stomach. We feed any and all in the Fighting Irish army, but of course, Stedsmen get to cut in line. If you find yourself in the Joyce lot for any home games this year, stop between poles 5 and 6 for some good grub and better conversation. Look for the Steds flag flying high!”
