McCarthy: Palm Sunday with the Navy
... Palm Sunday. Recently, a Stedsman, Brendan McCarthy '09, had the distinction as being the first to celebrate Palm Sunday as he crossed the International Date Line (IDL). That's right. The first! Created in 1884, zigzagging through the Pacific Ocean and extending from one pole to the other, the IDL defines the boundary between one calendar day and the next. So, McCarthy was at the right place, at the right time, celebrating Palm Sunday. first... and maybe we didn't know it until now, but God sure knew! On the feat, McCarthy said, "Hope everyone had a great Palm Sunday.
