Best of...

... the Gentlemen's Monthly. Yes, TEN years ago today, here was today's posting. Enjoy this blast from the past.

Somebody asked me...

2016: More Rancher Larry

...if I made New Year's resolutions. I was about to respond with a resolute no, but I then, like I often do, had an epiphany that moved me to respond with a yes. Yes! Yes, I have a New Year resolution for 2016... MORE Rancher Larry in the Gentlemen's Monthly!

Everyone's favorite podcast, In the Red Room, is on hiatus and will return once the new academic semester starts. Remember, good things come to those who wait!

Your Sunday picture...

Soak'n it up!

... from Nebraska! The tourist jingle, which was recently dropped- was so right- Nebraska: It's not for everyone. Indeed, it's not, but for those blessed to call this special plot of earth home, well, nothing else needs to be said! Enjoy this sunset over the Great Plains, and enjoy your Sunday wherever you may be!

A little snow wouldn't hurt...

...from Notre Dame. Here's the University's Nativity scene that has been set up by the Grotto. While Jesus has arrived, the snow has not. Perhaps that's exactly what we needed? Enjoy your Christmastide wherever you may be!

Merry Christmas...

... to all Gentlemen, St. Ed's families, and friends of St. Ed's Hall, Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to you all! May the Christ child fill your hearts with joy this Christmastide and his blessings throughout the NewYear. Here is the creche in the Rotunda of the Main Building.  Where is the Christ Child? Not in the manger but in our very hearts and homes! Remember that this Christmastide. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve at...

... St. Edward's is probably like this. Yes, Christmas Eve, when all through the Hall not a creature was stirring- not even a mouse. Well with the exception of a mouse somewhere in the Hall! Well, that's not true since the mice went on break too, returning to a neighboring sty of a hall that shall remain anonymous. Enjoy your Christmas Eve!

It's time...

We'll be right back after this break...

... for the residents leave for Christmas Break, but when does the rector leave? Great question. Some think that Fr. Ralph stays for the entirety of Christmas Break. Others think that he stay around for bit and enjoys the quiet.  Still yet, others think that he leave minute after residents do on Sunday… 12:01PM. Well, what is it? On what he does during Christmas Break, Fr. Ralph said, “I can see how others could think one of those possibilities, but if truth be told, it’s a little bit of everything. It’s the spice of life!”

So that everyone can rest and relax as Christmas Break begins, the Gentlemen's Monthly will go on "break mode" publishing every other day.

That smile...

Fischer: He's free!

... can mean only one thing. He's a free man! And that's certainly the case for this freshman and resident Arizonan and Phoenician, Patrick Fischer, who finished ALL of his finals on the final day for all exams. Finishing in late afternoon, a quiet, but exuberant, Fischer returned to Steds with a big smile, sending a clear signal to all that the strife was over, and now, it was time for packing... and football! Indeed, Fischer left the Hall as a first semester freshman, but after that last final, he returned as a second semester freshman... the grades are just a formality. On completing his first Finals Week, Fischer said, "Right now, at this very moment, I am reminded of the words of Mahatma Ghandi who said, 'Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph: a beginning, a struggle, and a victory.'"

Congratulations to all our finals takers, and now, enjoy your break!

Yes, finals are over, but here are some pictures of other study breaks, smiles, and fun times shared during the crucible called Finals Week. Enjoy!

Leading the way, PTK and VP Clinton...
