Your Hall...

Verdeschi (R): Rallying the Boys for Old St. Ed

... needs you! Yes, St. Edward's needs every Gentleman to do his duty to Hall and King in this fight against malaria, and the Commander-in-Chief in this battle, Matt Verdeschi, making sure that happens. While the logistics for this Thursday's offensive, the mustering of hairstylists, distribution of frockets, and securing food supplies, are complete, Verdeschi is not letting his guard down. Rather, he's rallying the spirits of his fellow Stedsmen, who at this moment may be having second thoughts about joining the fight and heading off to the front. Indeed, nerves and anxiety are running high. After all, it's one thing to have long hair, but it is a completely different thing to have that long hair crafted into a mullet. Suffice it to say, on the eve of battle, encouragement from the Commander-in-Chief himself is strengthen the resolve and determination of Steds forces.

Seeing some young Stedsmen in the lobby, Verdeschi seized the moment saying, "Get a mullet, and prove the 80s mullet never went out of style!"

Hearing the Verdeschi's clarion, like a warrior poet of old, Michael Mitchell, freshman and Georgian, was moved and exclaimed, "Six months, my hair did grow, To create this lengthy flow. A mullet, time to stun. Put malaria on the run. For this, these locks must go."

Struck by the same words, Robert Cline, freshman and Californian, said, "Growing a head of lettuce with my fellow Stedsmen has been nothing short of amazing. It’s been really encouraging to see a group of guys put aside their clippers in the fight against Malaria. I couldn’t be more proud to have a little business in the front and some party in the back.”

Still, Kyle Bass, fellow freshman and North Carolinian, added, "Although COVID has taken away many Steds traditions that we hold near and dear, it can’t take away our ability to sport the finest hairstyle on campus. I can’t wait to be a part of the greatest hall fundraiser by fighting malaria with mullets alongside my fellow Stedsmen."

Finally, Will Dwortz, was also moved and shared, "I'm honestly excited to see who can really pull off the mullet. I figure there has to be at least one, but I have no clue who it'll be. But still, we're all going to beat malaria!"

As our brave boys fight malaria, may their courage move us to join them and do our part in this battle. Let's give it to malaria, and bring our boys- and their hairstyles- back!
