We remember!

... the Founder, especially today, on his anniversary of his death. Earlier today, a visit was made to Holy Cross Cemetery, the community cemetery for the Congregation of Holy Cross, located on the north side of St. Mary's Lake, to visit Fr. Sorin's grave and all Holy Cross religious. Even though Fr. Sorin's grave is front and center of all, something he did not want, it is only fitting, for without him, none of this would be! Fr. Sorin requiescat in pace!

Fall Break...

Carroll (red hat): Fall Breaking

... may be over, but what a break it was. Wherever the Stedsmen went, to home, a beach or beyond, they found a respite from books, papers, and the Hall’s study lounges. So, where did they go? What did they do? Why did they go? Because inquiring minds want to know! Well, today we hear from one Gentleman, who, along with his fellow Stedsmen, made the trek down south to Tennessee. On his Fall Break, PJ Carroll, Steds senior and resident Michigander, shared, "Fall Break rescued me from academic turmoil at the ideal moment, freeing my friends and me for a saunter through the tranquility of the Smokies in their  autumnal beauty. Nature is beautiful and God is good, but I did not see any bears; this was somewhat disappointing."

They got married!

Heather and Andrew...

It’s official! Yes, they got married! In the company of family, friends, and Stedsmen, Heather Lysted and Stedsman, Dr. Andrew Hildreth '17 were married in the picturesque city of San Diego, California. Even though it was already a sunny and beautiful day, this effervescent and radiant couple, not to mention their smiles too, only made the day brighter and more beautiful and memorable. On their marriage, Fr. Ralph Haag, CSC, shared, “I have never seen Andrew smile so much! We wish them all the best in their life as one!"

They got married!

Mr. and Mrs. Alex and Amanda Cervantes...

Last week, it was all about engagements (and we didn't announce all of them!), but this week, we'll inform you of the proverbial tying of the knots. Yes, it’s official! Yes, they got married! In the company of family, friends, and Stedsmen, Amanda Rodriguez and Stedsman, Alex Cervantes '18 were married at St. Patrick's Church in the beautiful and quintessential Californian beach city of Carlsbad. Even though the morning was marked by a strong "marine layer," as known as fog, everything became sunny and bright just in time for Amanda and Alex's nuptials. Many would say the lifting of the fog occurred because the sun came out, but for us at the wedding, we would all agree that it was not that but rather the appearance of the bright and beaming couple. On the wedding, Kirk Hansen '18, Stedman and groomsman, shared,“It was California Dreamin’ this weekend celebrating the marriage of Amanda and Alex Cervantez. Amanda, welcome to the Steds family!"

Saturday Squirrel.

He's a coot!

During a walk in the Back Bay of Newport Beach, this feathered friend was spotted. While it is often confused as duck, the American coot, Fulica americana, is actually a bird. Unlike the webbed feet of ducks, coots have broad, lobed scales on their lower legs and toes that fold back with each step to facilitate walking on dry land. Very skittish and also know as mud hens, coots can be found throughout all of North America. On being spotted, this coot, paddling away, non-verbaled, "Sorry, but I gotta run!"
