Saturday Squirrel.

Enjoying the solitude

Wildlife abounds at Notre Dame, and to see it, all one needs to do is look for it. With eyes open, during a walk around St. Joseph Lake, this blue heron was spotted taking a break on the pathway to Duck Island. Usually seen at St. Mary's Lake, this heron now splits time between the two lakes, perhaps because St. Mary's has seen an explosion of fishermen since the start of school. On having his picture taken, this blue heron non-verbaled, "Next time, please knock at the gate!"
