Let Democracy...

President Dane Storch and Election Commissioner Zach Zyweic

... ring! With the speeches, campaigning, and grandstanding over, it was now time for democracy to work its magic. Yes, it was time for the Steds electorate to have their say. Voting the old fashion way, paper ballots, Stedsmen cast their votes in the Flounge under the watchful and impartial eye of the Hall Election Commissioner, freshmen, Zach Zyweic.

And it was a crowded field for hall president with two tickets vying for victory. The first ticket being Tommy Kelly, rising sophomore, as President with Andrew Kolodychak, rising junior, and Clinton Daly, rising sophomore, as Vice Presidents. The second ticket was abstain.

And for the Steds senate seat, it was again a crowded field with six candidates running, Sophomores Kyle Hill and Paul Fischer with freshmen Calvin Bacall, Ryan Davey, Ryan Hyer, and Dennis van Hoesel.

In the end, congratulations to president-elect Tommy Kelly and vps Kolodychak and Daly! As for senator, well, it’s going to a run off. More to come.

On the election, Zach Zyweic shared, "Democracy started in Athens, flourished in America, and is now truly alive and well at St. Edward's Hall. I am honored to add my name to the likes of Locke, Montesquieu, and Rousseau as a champion of democracy. I promise accepted no bribes from Tommy Kelly ticket, but I can't say the same about the abstain ticket."
