... reign! If Steds loves two things, it's their moms and democracy, and so, it comes as no surprise that there was much fanfare with the recent Hall Presidential election. With President Aidan Tompkins stepping down to spend more time at Ed's, two sophomores stepped forward to fill the vacuum left by Tompkins' departure, Dane Storch and Jack Szatkowski. Pressing the flesh, making promises, and sharing their platforms at a Hall Council meeting, Storch and Szatkowski campaigned up and down the hallways of Steds, all in the search of votes. Finally, Election Day came, and with a polling station set up in the Flounge and using an Ascis shoes box donated by Fr. Ralph, the Steds Presidential Election took place from 6 to 9pm. In addition to the Presidential ticket, the Hall's Senate seat was also up for grabs. In the end, when the polls closed and votes were counted- and verified- the winner declared. Dane Storch and ticket with Vice Presidents, Louis Rauch and Andrew Kolodychak, won the vote and will assume high office on, no fooling, April 1st. On the smooth election and transition of power, now lame duck President Tompkins shared, "Dane is a great choice for president. He is smart, determined, and tall. I’m excited to see how his administration leads the oldest residence hall on campus in the calendar year to come.”
Congratulations to the outgoing and incoming Hall Governments as well as to Ryan Casey, Steds Hall Election Commissioner, for helping Steds opt out of Judicial Council's Google electronic voting scheme and hold a traditional paper vote. And it was all controversy free! Still, thanks for Casey holding a SECOND run off vote for the Hall's Senate seat. Winner to yet be declared! On holding a second Seante runoff vote, Casey said, "Please don't let there be a tie!"
