It's back to...

A tale of two students: Guerrera and Chu

... school for some but not all. Despite classes resuming, some Stedsmen are still clinging to their summer vacation, and that was certainly the case for Nate Chu. Instead of cracking a book and reading a page or town, or working on the assignment that is due at the next class period, Chu decided to chuck it all in favor of lounging in the St. Ed's Park. Unlike his relaxed friend, Daniel Guerrera opted to take advantage of the opportunity to get ahead in his classes. Bringing his laptop to the park, Guerrera got the best of both worlds, sun and learning. On chilling in the St. Ed's Park, Chu, junior and resident junior, shared, “The weather on the first day of the semester presented the perfect opportunity to show off my best Father Ralph impression!”

It's back to...

Monolov on the move

... classes. Yes, the first day of classes for the new academic year. Regardless of class level, spirits are high, and the zeal for learning palatable. But this is particularly acute for our newest Stedsmen, our fifty-four freshmen. After arriving on Friday and completing orientation on Sunday, the Steds freshmen are ready for the start of classes and the learning to commence. One bright eyed and eager Steds freshmen is Maksim Manolov. On going to his first college class, Manolov, ND Men's swimmer and Steds resident Bulgarian, shared,"Breakfast first!"

Your Sunday picture...

... from Notre Dame. Here is a view of Mary, the Dome, and the steeple of the Basilica seen from the east side of St. Joseph's Lake. The halcyon, summer view is relaxing, but it's all coming to an end. With classes starting tomorrow, summer is truly over. But a summer it was! Enjoy the view, and enjoy your Sunday wherever you may be!

Saturday Squirrel.

Exit stage up away

Our furry friends are on hiatus, and so, there is an opportunity to introduce you to another campus neighbor. Seen around St. Mary's Lake, this blue heron is much larger than its cousin the green heron which can also been seen. Some times perched on a felled tree or even in the lake itself, the blue heron is quietly and patiently stalking. On being spotted, this blue heron non-verbaled, "See ya later. My cover been blown!"

Move in...

Move In Weekend Crew 2025...

... day was perfect! First, the weather couldn't have been more agreeable. In the high seventies and no humidity,  it had to be one of the better weather days for move in for the last ten years. Next, the Hall's Welcome Week Committee, under the direction of juniors Ryan Hyer and Zach Zwyiec, assisted further by sophomores Patrick Fischer and Henry Mackie, was organized and sprung into action like a well oiled machine, making unloading times much shorter than your wait at your local DVM. Still, Peter Nichols turned the tables, dropping beats and even dabbling in a bit of karaoke. All of this combined for freshmen move in found its groove, worked efficiently, and was all done with a smile. On move in operations at Steds, a parking attendant, who was working the move in of the hall next door to Steds and saw our team in operation, said, "I don't want to work this hall next year. I want to be at Steds! What a class act!"
