Blooming at the base of Station Two of the Stations of Cross in the Woods, the spring time flower bouts our hope that snow, sleet, and cloudy days are over. Hope springs eternal! ... Moms. The Gentlemen feted their moms with a Celebration Dinner at the Downes Club of Corbett Hall, the building on the east side of the football stadium. On the seventh floor, with views of the field and campus, Moms were treated to appetizers and cocktails with a plated dinner following. Moms also had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the Steds photo backdrop by a professional photographer. No mess up there. Still yet, Moms could simply sit and enjoy the string quartet. And when dinner was over, there's was more! A magician, a ND undergraduate student, came and gave a performance that was so good, everyone was left wondering, "How did he do that?!" Sadly, the evening came to end but not after a fabulous evening. On the Celebration Dinner, Laurie McKeon '84, NDLS '87, MNP '12, former Lewis Hall Resident Assistant and Assistant Rector, mother of SIX ND graduates and one Stedsman, as well as mother of TWO Steds Assistant Rectors, Peter and Nate, shared, "Once again, the Gentlemen of St. Ed’s pulled off the event of the season, treating their mothers to a wonderful dinner complete with premium magical entertainment. This is my third Mom's Weekend and the Gentlemen never disappoint.”

... for Mom's' Weekend 2022! Not since 2019 have Stedsmen been able to fete their moms in what has to be the. The weekend started off with a welcome social at the Smith Ballroom at the Morris Inn. With sophomore Kyle Bass as the commissioner, this year there are 110 moms in attendance with 40 sisters, aunts, and grandmas present as well. All of this makes for ONE FUN WEEKEND. On the weekend, Suzanne Lofton, Hawaiian and mother of Steds senior, Keenan, said, "This weekend already off to a great start! Got our photos with our sons and his friends and waiting to take MORE with Fr. Ralph tomorrow."

... Steds. It's every Stedsman worse nightmare. Yes, having to compete against fellow Stedsmen is something that no Gentleman ever wants to do, but sadly, from time to time, it happens. And that's exactly what happened when two Steds Bookstore basketball team collided head to head on the court in the annual ND Bookstore Basketball Tourney. Commonly referred as simply "Bookstore," the tourney is an opportunity for friends to form competitive as well as non-competitive teams to play for Ws or just laughs. But for our two Steds teams, it was all about the W. It was Steds against Steds... junior against junior... Magic Johnson against S3 Podcast... and while they might have to live with each other, nothing was held back as both sides vied for the win. But in the end, there could be only one winner and that was Team Magic Johnson.
On losing in the opening round, Tommy Gallagher, Steds junior and S3 Podcast team member, stated, "Playing a Steds team in the 1st round of Bookstore was certainly a unique experience. It was kind of like Duke and UNC playing in the Final Four. But it was also unfortunate as the other team had all the tall people in Steds.”
On winning in the opening round, Sam Miller, resident Floridian, said, “We didn’t enjoy it, but the other Stedsmen had to walk so that we might run.”

He did it! He won! Stedsman, Josh "Barstool Athlete" Williams, won his Bengal Bouts Championship for the 170 lbs division. With his fellow Stedsmen in his corner, literally and figuratively, Williams took to the ring and was ready to box. Coming out swinging, Williams took the first round, but then, in the second round, Williams had a bit of set back as his opponent kept pushing him into the corner. But in the third, there was no stopping this Gentleman boxer, who upon hearing the cheers of his Steds fans, served up the old one, two to his opponent... again, again, and over again. Without any doubt, Williams took that round, and ultimately, won the bout and the championship, sending the Steds crowd into a joyful and raucous frenzy. On Williams' championship win, Ben Poag, Stedsman and roommate of Williams, shared, "It was just business as usual for Josh; he floated like a butterfly, and stung like a bee. What more could you ask for from the champ? 305 only produces winners."
