… they up to? Or rather, what did they do over the summer? With classes started and in full swing, summer is a distant memory well off in the rear view mirror of life. But still, we can ask., “What were are Stedsmen up to this summer,” and that’s the question we want to ask Steds sophomores PJ Carroll and Ben Somerville. It’s looks like they jetted off to the continent and summer in Berlin. Besides enjoying a European vacation, what did this Steds duo do? Well, let’s from on them.
On “studying” in Berlin, Somervile shared,“Berlin was one of the best experiences of my life. While I was there to study abroad, which was a great experience, the biggest take away was the beauty of Berlin’s culture and environment. The combination of parks and natural environments, with the fast paced and extremely accepting social environment, created a city unlike any other I have ever been to. Whatever I could imagine doing there was somewhere in Berlin where it was possible. To make everything even better, the public transportation was phenomenal. Taking trains, busses, and trams was so easy, efficient, and accesable. Berlin was a city that has a thriving culture. All the people I encountered were so unique and genuinely loved expressing themselves. This study abroad experience was unlike anything I have done before and I hope all other Notre Dame students can experience something similar…”
while Carroll added, “It was an amazing summer in Berlin, especially with a visit from Steds very own German resident Dane Storch. We explored the wildly different day and night lives of the city and met some amazing Domers and Germans along the way!”
