The man...

Taking a golf break with Dad: Rubin

... making the Stedsmen the talk of campus. Even though we may be one of the smaller halls on campus, St. Edward's makes its presence known and felt. How does this happen? In a variety of ways of course but one way for certain is through its hall apparel. And this year we have a new man at the helm, junior, Kyle Rubin. A fashion dark horse for sure, Rubin has suddenly emerged as a design visionary and fashion genius, capturing the attention of all with the release of his fall apparel collection. From his room on the third floor, Rubin has designed what can only be described as a renaissance for all hall apparel at Notre Dame. Inspired by the Hall's esprit de corp and joie de vivre, a functional, yet sharp, is now being offered to all residents. Recently, we were able to catch up with this rising star in the design world and ask him about his whirlwind start.

St.Ed: Kyle, how did you come to be the Steds clothier?

Rubin: Lucky for me, my roommate is the President of the dorm so I asked him and he said yes. Wouldn't say he had much of a choice, though.

St.Ed: In designing fashion for the University’s oldest and most storied Hall, where did you draw your inspiration?

Rubin: In keeping with the tradition of this storied Hall, I tried to keep the designs clean and simple, to provide a more traditional yet fashionable look for this year's residents. The goal of this year's lineup was to have apparel that you could and would want to wear anywhere.

St.Ed: What do you want your clothing to convey to world? Moreover, what do you want your clothing to say to one wearing it?

Rubin: I want students in other dorms to see our lineup and ask how and where we got it. I wanted to establish St. Edward's Hall as this year's leader in dormitory apparel and I think we are off to a great start.

St.Ed: Many have declared your fall line of Steds couture clothing magnificent, even a triumph, but how do you keep this personal tour de force from going to your head?

Rubin: Just knowing that there is more to come and more that I want to do in the future regarding Steds apparel motivates me to keep moving forward. There's still a lot of work to be done for the Spring, but the Gentlemen of St. Edward's Hall should be excited for the future.

St.Ed: With your first line of apparel now done, what will you be doing next?

Rubin: Even though the Fall's lineup is done doesn't mean the work is, there are no days off on this job. With that being said, I will continue to play golf at least 4 times a week which results all of you having to wait a little bit longer for my replies.

BUT THERE'S MORE....
