Taking a break...

Our brave boys: Taking a respite:

... from the front. Our brave boys enjoyed some time away from the front. But what does one do when taking break from the frontlines of a war? Head to the local SkyZone of course! For a little rest and relaxation, the boys and their mullets enjoyed an afternoon trampolines and dodge ball. There's nothing more relaxing than jumping up and down with a mullet... plus it helps one jump higher! Yes, it's a little known fact. One person enjoy his leave time was Griffin Reidy. On his time away from the war, Reidy, Steds freshman and resident Illinoisan, shared, "After a week full of hard work trying to use our luscious mullets to limit the impact of malaria, it was great to have a fun time with the gentleman of St. Edward’s hall while jumping up and down and enthusiastically throwing balls at each other at SkyZone."

A moment with...

Haag: Doing his part

... the boys. Yes, the war is continue to wage on, and our brave boys and their mullets continue to advance. While things may be going their way, we still want to continue highlighting our Gentlemen and their mullets. In this series, we try to show the softer side of our brave boys. Sometimes we forget, that behind that powerful and awesome mullet, is a gentleman, who like Winston Churchill, "likes the smell of powder but hates war." Here is one of those brave gentlemen, who for King and Hall, got a mullet and went off to the front lines to battle the enemy with every follicle of his being, Connor Larson. Before heading off, this freshman of St. Ed's shared some thoughts on his mullet for the blog.

St. Ed: How do you feel having a mullet? Was it worth the wait?

Haag: After growing my hair out for nearly a year, I am delighted to finally have my mob of follicles crafted into 80's awesomeness, a mullet. Truthfully, I am overwhelmed and am on verge of tears.

St. Ed: How does your mom feel about you sporting a mullet?

Haag: My mom loved me growing my hair out because it showed I had curly hair. Though she never saw the final product in-person, she was like me, all in to strike a blow against malaria.

St. Ed: Does your mullet have a name?

Haag: Yes! Keeping to my Nebraskan roots... it's the Nebraska Prairie Schooner. It's prairie polite up front, but it's schooner of prairie fun in the back!

St. Ed: Still. what do you think your mullet communicates?

Haag: I care about the KIDS! Take that malaria.

St. Ed: Good luck out there!

A moment with...

A portrait of courage: Larson

... the boys. Yes, the war is full swing, and our brave boys and their mullets are pushing deep into enemy territory.

Larson: Having a mullet with the other Stedsmen is quite a privilege and fun to be apart of. It was definitely worth the wait.

St. Ed: How does your mom feel about you sporting a mullet?

Larson: My mom thinks it’s hilarious and was quick to share pictures of my dad with a similar style when he was my age.

St. Ed: Does your mullet have a name?

Larson: No, I’ve never thought about giving it a name.

St. Ed: How unfortunate. A masterpiece, and it has no name. Much unfortunate indeed. Still. what do you think your mullet communicates? I

Larson: I think my mullet communicates that I absolutely despise malaria.

St. Ed: Good luck out there!

It's war!

The Gentlemen have declared war on plasmodium falciparum... also known as malaria. The war will be demanding and the price for victory will not be cheap. The Gentlemen know this full well, yet they are willing to risk everything and head to front lines for "King and Hall." Their bravery makes foes tremble and friends take heart. Today in LaFortune's basement, there was no shortage of courage as many young men received their mullet and marching orders. On seeing the courage of so many young men, Fr. Ralph said, "Their courage and bravery is contagious. If only we all could be like them!"
