A man with a...

Hair to work with: Patrick (center) and the Stedsmen

... mission and a mullet. Soon, Patrick Fischer, Steds sophomore and Mullets Against Malaria Commissioner, will have a mullet and direct Steds follicle power in the battle against malaria. But before the our boys head off to the front, I was able to catch up with this brave Arizonan and ask him about the impending showdown with our enemy.

St.Ed: For those who are new to Steds, what is Mullets Against Malaria?

Fischer: Mullets Against Malaria is Steds’ annual fundraiser with a goal of $10,000 donated for United to Beat Malaria.

St.Ed: How is Steds using mullets to stop malaria?

Fischer: Almost every Stedsman will get a mullet on January 28th. Despite looking fresh, it serves to spread awareness and express solidarity with the people affected by this cruel disease.

St. Ed: As our commander in the fight, how are you rallying the men to offer their locks to this noble cause?

Fischer: To be honest, there is almost no convincing needed. This Steds community is so tight knit that the thought of sharing the same haircut for a common cause is exciting to everyone.

St. Ed: When you get your mop of hair styled, will it be a mullet, and if so, will it have a name?

Fischer: It will most definitely be a mullet, or the last two months of growing out the back will have been for nothing. Being from Phoenix, Arizona I have decided to name my mullet the Phoenician Flow.

St. Ed: Okay, maybe you can’t say, but do we have any secret weapons in this fight?

Fischer: No comment. Just know that the St Edward's network is very powerful.

St. Ed: How can others join you and brave boys, maybe not with a mullet, in this fight against malaria?

Fischer: #1 DONATE. Every dollar matters, with a life-saving net only costing $5. #2 SPREAD the word so that we can raise as much money and make as much of an impact as possible.

St. Ed: Good luck to you and the boys!

Ed's...

Ed's: Situation normal...

... open! With great fanfare, Ed's, campus' most favorite hall eatery, re-opened under new management and with menu offerings. Freshmen, Caden Hickey and Eva Greer, are at the helm and are hungry, literally and figuratively, for a Michelin star. Retooling procedures, retraining workers, re-sourcing food supply distributors, and "re" anything and everything else, these two have started yet another  "re-naissance" at Steds. No longer will there be the awkward, late night gurgling of an empty stomach in a Steds study lounge. No longer will there be late night walks to LaFun- in subzero weather- to purchase overpriced snacks. No longer indeed as Ed's is now open, bigger and better than ever! On the re-opening, Caden Hickey, Steds freshman, Bear fans, and resident Illinoian, shared, "A successful first night! We had 45 orders in the 2 hours that we were open. Thank you to all our customers!"

It...

Bundle up

... snowed again. Yes, unbeknownst to everyone, including local meteorologists, it snowed... and snowed a lot. When all was said and done, another four to five inches fell upon campus. And if that was not bad enough, then it was the frigid air that was blowing about, blowing about making it feel like -14F. Yup, it was a true January day at Notre Dame. On the reevntweather, Christian Shinohara, Steds sophomore and resident Guamanian, shared, "If you choose not to enjoy the snow, you live with less joy and the same amount of snow.”

Your Sunday picture...

... from Notre Dame. Here's a picture of Mary, the Dome, the Basilica of and the Statue of the Sacred Heart of God Quad. Taken during the recent lake effect snow storm, it's captures the early goes of the storm which left a foot and four inches of snow, blanketing everything in white. And with an Arctic high pressure sinking south, temps will plummet and the white stuff will hang around. Enjoy, and enjoy your Sunday wherever you may be!

It's back! Yes, Notre Dame's favorite podcast has returned from its Christmas hiatus. To hear this week's installment of In the Red Room, on:
