Saturday Squirrel.

Up, up and away!

While our furry friends are busy preparing for winter, we're going to focus on some other campus friends, Canada geese. Don't get too close to these feathered friends because they are rather standoffish. If you do get too close, they are not afraid to hiss, even take a peck, at you. Still, the Canada geese are fun to watch, especially when they land or take off from the lakes. Here is a photo of a flock taking off from St. Mary's Lake. What's interesting in this photo is not only the capturing of their flying but also how one black cormorant (seen in the background) did not join in the departure. On watching the other leave, the black cormorant non-verbaled, "Finally, I have the whole place to myself."
