Spring is...

At St. Olaf's...

... in the air. It really is! Oh, it's still cold and grey, and snow is on the ground. Yet, there is a slight, slight warmth in the wind, letting on that winter's grasp is slowly waning. So, perhaps now is a good time to reflect on the height of winter's hold on campus, and what better way to do that than reflecting on that which grabbed the attention of campus and the nation, St. Olaf's. An ice chapel built on North Quad by residents of Fisher Hall, now Coyle Hall, living in Zahm, the chapel was the center of attention, even grabbing national headlines, as well as the scene of an outside Mass where over two thousand students attended. Melted away during a brief warm up, St. Olaf's is now just a memory, but what a memory it was while it lasted. On the ice chapel, Fr. Ralph said dryly, "I found the experience of St. Olaf's bit cold."
