... and before all the festivities of the Labor Day holiday weekend, there was the Steds Spike Ball Skirmish. Started last year, the skirmish continued this year, pitting Stedsmen against Stedsmen in a game of spike ball. Playing by old school rules, the Stedsmen battled it out on North Quad with perfect weather and ground conditions. Yes, the grass was perfect, making for fast track conditions. And while many a Stedsman gave it the old college go, only one duo would be crowned winners... and that honor went to the sophomores, Evan Greer and Connor Larson. On winning the Steds Spike Ball Skirmish, Greer, Steds sophomore and resident Marylander, declared, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing,” while Larson, Steds sophomore and resident Iowan, said, "Won the tournament. Paid for in blood.”
