... noise about? Yes, there was been a lot of noise about Steds these days. Interestingly enough, it's not coming from the Gentlemen. Thoughts immediately turn to Zahm. But no. It's not Zahm. Who then? Well, it's the construction workers who are building the new Remick Hall directly to west of Steds. Replacing the old "Sorinville," a series of buildings built by Sorin that over the years had become dilapidated and eventually were condemned for a number of years, Remick Hall will certainly add curb appeal to both the Main Building and Steds. But there's a price for that curb appeal and enjoying sight views of the Dome, noise.
Unfortunately, from early morning to late afternoon, a steady buzz of noise is coming from the construction site, but there's hope for the Gentlemen, especially those living on the westside of the Hall. Construction is nearly over! On the noise, Henry Bergstrom, Steds junior and native Minnesotan, stated, "Normally, when someone wakes up on a peaceful South Bend morning, they expect the soft chirping of birds or the calm rustling of leaves in a breeze. That has not been our reality for the last two years. The construction going on across Sorin Circle has caused me to hear more jackhammer and crane noises than I ever thought I would in the past two years. Hopefully the building turns out well. Not only did we have to hear but we also have to see it... a lot."
