Chapman: A renaissance man and Dontello mutant ninja turtle fan
Ricky Chapman '09, Stedsman, former stall notes writer, and weekend Scrabble referee, recently took the time to chat with me, bringing me up to speed on what he's been up to since leaving Sted's. Here's what Chapman had to say...
St. Ed: What are you up
to these days?
Chapman: I'm living in
central New Jersey, Trenton actually, and working for a public policy research
company.
St. Ed: Oh, is that something like working for the organization “ACORN?"
Chapman: In the sense that
we hope our policy evaluations are the seeds that will become the mighty oaks
of a well-functioning society? Sure, why not.
St. Ed: If you could take
any economist on the Yacht Dance, who would you take?
Chapman: Keynes was too
much of a flirt for my tastes. I think I'd go with Ronald Coase, because who
wouldn't enjoy a charming evening of welfare enhancing bargaining?
St. Ed: Not to get philosophical on you, but does
“util” exist?
Chapman: Man, I was
expecting softballs in this interview! This is a tough one, as the
"util" is the Higgs-Boson of the soft sciences. Long-theorized but
never proved, its discovery would simultaneously unify all of social scientific
theory and usher in a bitcoin-based economic renaissance. Our brightest
economic minds, as well as Paul Krugman, are actively searching for it.
St. Ed: Can’t say that I have ever been to central
Jersey, but how's life in Trenton?
Chapman: Is "stabby" a word?
St. Ed: What advice do
you have for your fellow Stedsmen?
Chapman: Support St. Ed.
He'll support you.
