Meares’ best “Wolf of Wall Street” impression
Joseph
Meares ’10, Stedsman and “Man of High Finance,” took the time to stop watching Fox's Maria Bartiromo and researching stocks to tell me what’s he up to these
days. Here is what Meares had to say…
St. Ed: What are you up to these days?
Meares: I’m an Equity Research Associate at SunTrust
Robinson Humphrey. Basically I spend 12-14 hours a day analyzing stocks. I am
also studying for the CFA exam and be a charted financial analyst/
St. Ed: How has the prep gone
for the exams?
Meares: I’ll begin studying for the last
segment of the CFA exam in January, so this will probably be my last
correspondence with the outside world until June.
St. Ed: I might be jumping the gun here,
asking for financial advice, but do you think that I should get a reverse
mortgage on Steds?
Meares: If living in NYC for 3 years has
taught me anything, it’s that street performers make BANK. So, it’d probably
make more sense to just have the most talented freshman perform on South Quad
for donations to the Hall.
St. Ed: Thoughts about the Polar Vortex?
Meares: I recently hired a sherpa to
accompany me on my daily walk to work. Highly recommended.
St. Ed: Since I have you, what are your
thoughts on the “signer" at Mandela’s memorial? Crazy, or just so sane
that it blows our minds?
Meares: A lot of people said Steve Jobs
was crazy when he invented the Big Mac too…3 buns?
There you
have it… Joe Meares, a Steve Jobs fan and soon to be CFA.
