Purveyor of comfort food...

Meehan, a no-nonsense New Yorker and manager of Ed's

When he isn't training for Bengal Bouts, Daniel Meehan, Steds sophomore, is managing the twice-voted "Best in-Hall Campus Eatery," Ed's. Established in 2010, Meehan is the fourth Ed's manager, overseeing eight student workers and devising a menu for the most discerning palate. Here's what Meehan had to say, when I caught up with him...

St. Ed: What moved you to take on the mantle of manager at Ed's?

Meehan: Well, it's so obvious. It's the dream of every Stedsmen to manage the finest establishment here on campus.

St. Ed: Where do you find inspiration for Ed's?

Meehan: Ja Rule.

St. Ed: Ja Rule?

Meehan: Yes, Ja Rule… you know the rapper. Because of his time in prison, Ja Rule learned how to use a microwave, and he’s now writing a microwave-themed cookbook. At Ed’s, we too use microwaves to bring “comfort food” to Stedsmen, and so, I think that we can learn something from Ja Rule’s time in Hotel Graybar.

St. Ed: Rumor has it that there are plans for new offerings at Ed's, like Asian fusion something? Is that true?

Meehan: Well, yes, but definitely not Asian Fusion. Early attempts at "weekend specials" went over like bad Chinese on a Friday night. However, don't think for one second that will stop us from coming up with a few surprises.

St. Ed: Do you eat at Ed's?

Meehan: Me? What about you?

St. Ed: Who's being interviewed here?

Folks, the sass… I am sure that we'll find it in the kitchen too.
