Thoughts from abroad...

Michael Son blocking a great view of a London landmark

From Rio to Sydney and all points in between, Stedsmen have over 40 different international study programs to choose from and every semester a number of Stedsmen go abroad.

Let's hear from Steds resident and Glee Club member Michael Son about his time in London.

St. Ed: How are you getting along in a non-English speaking country?

Michael: The British love to drop their vowels when speaking, and so, it's pretty difficult to understand them. For example, to say “Hey you!” in British, you would say, “Eo-e!”  If you want to learn to speak British, SNL skits are a great place to start.

St. Ed: Even though you're a part of a demanding study abroad program, have you managed to take any trips to the "Continent"? If so, where?

Michael: YES! Besides seeing numerous places in England, I've gone to Paris, Stockholm, Munich, Athens and the Greek Islands, Vienna, and Salzburg. There are many more places that I am planning to visit, but trying to balance travels with studies-of constantly reading, writing papers, and studying for exams- is tough.

St. Ed: Right.

St. Ed: What do you miss from home?

Michael: FOOD. London is expensive, and on top of that the food portions are half the size of those in the States. I'll never complain about the dining hall ever again!

There you have it folks… thoughts from abroad.
