IN THEIR OWN WORDS: The Battle for the Shadow

The annual basketball tourney between St. Edward’s and Zahm Halls was played on Friday. In a night game, a trio of St. Edward’s residents took down Zahm 11 to 3, bringing home a victory and securing Mary’s shadow upon her favorite Hall and sons.

Let’s hear from the ballers… Mike Ahlers, Ollie Lamb and John Planek.

St. Ed: On the court, did you try to emulate a team or player?

Ballers: We did our best to emulate the Miami Heat and their big three by flopping relentlessly, only passing when it is 100% necessary, and constantly complaining to the nonexistent referees. Okay none of that is true, but I couldn't liken our performance to anyone in particular.

St. Ed: Was the crowd a factor in your victory?

Ballers: The crowd factor was key. I think the Stedsmen outnumbered the Zahmbies by at least 4 to 1. After we got a few quick baskets and the Steds faithful kept the noise up at a deafening level, victory was never in doubt. All that was left to do was storm the court in celebration.

St. Ed: What will you do next? Will we see you take your game to Bookstore?

Ballers: Oliver and Mahlers will be taking their talents to the Bookstore courts in the spring, looking to build off success last season. As for me, I have decided to test international waters in tandem with my study abroad program in London.

There you have it folks... IN THEIR OWN WORDS.
