Chef Wittenberg: it's a labor of love.

Yes, Jake Wittenberg loves being the head chef at Ed's. His demanding and uncompromising standards ultimately results in Wittenberg having a demeanor like that of Chef Gordon Ramsey but also being known as the creator of paninis and smiles of satisfaction.  On seeing Wittenberg work his magic at Ed's, Phineas Andrews, Sted's food worker, said, "Watching Chef Jake work is better than seeing Joe Scollan on the Big Cats field." Still, on seeing Phineas work his magic at Ed's, Chef Wittenberg said, "Phineas's real magic doesn't occur in Engineering, his major. It occurs behind the counter at Ed's, where he makes culinary dreams come true on a once-weekly basis." Yes chef!

...calendars! On April 26th, the University will host Notre Dame Day, "a global celebration of the Notre Dame mission that engages, inform, and inspires people to take action and give back." That is what the Gentlemen are hoping for... that you tune in, take action, and give back...support them in this "global celebration." On Notre Dame Day, Fr. Ralph said, "Just remember, it's for the kids!"

Paintball Sunday.

The masses...the residents.

It was a glorious day to go paint balling, and so, thirty plus Stedsmen took to the paint ball fields of Michigan. On the field, games pitting different floors of the Hall and classes against each other were played while memorable shots and "sore spots" were remembered off field. On paint balling, Sted's sophomore, Matt Owen, said, "Today, the castle was repeatedly stormed and repeatedly infiltrated. But it's okay. In the end, we left the battlefield with minimal injuries, many welts, and a strong sense of camaraderie. That's a win in my book. I think I will be consulting my roommate Tommy Davis (medieval history nerd) on Castle Defense 101. I look forward to using what I learn next year to ensure maximal casualties for hall staff (in a socially acceptable way).

New sheriffs in town!

...spoken! Yes, the Hall has spoken, and a new leadership team has been tapped to carry on the daily workings and preserve the time honored traditions of the Hall. The Murphy Administration, President Mike Murphy and Vice Presidents Patrick Krauss and Christian Verhamme, has stepped down as the new Hilly Administration, with President Griffin Hilly and Vice President Brandon Ruggles, fills the vacuum. On their first Hall Government meeting, President Hilly said, "I thought it was a wonderful first of many hall councils. How many? Vegas odds have us at 10 but Brandon and I are both Cubs fans, so we're well-practiced in irrational optimism."

...and for a change, it was played! Yes, the Big Cats took the pitch in a classic residence hall showdown with its next door neighbors, Zahm Hall. In true Zahm fashion, Zahm failed to show up. Still, the cats enjoyed a pick up game against another residence hall. "Cat Nips", Brandon Ryan, a member of Sted’s soccer A team, said, “If there was one thing I’d say about tonight, it would be that we have a distinct advantage in the disorganization of our starting lineup. Having no set plan of action really opens up the offensive possibilities to things  we cannot even comprehend.”
