With very little activity on campus, our furry friends are not only bored but also very hungry. So desperate for a handout are our squirrels that they rushing right up to any passerby from seemingly nowhere to beg for a tasty treat. And that's was the case with this squirrel. While Fr. Ralph was walking up the steps of the Main Building, a squirrel followed him. Even though he tried to keep a low and chill profile, it quickly become evident that he was following Notre Dame's current longest serving rector for a handout. As Fr. Ralph picked up his pace to avoid contact, so did the squirrel, who finally broke out into a fill sprint up the steps. But suddenly, the squirrel broke off the pursuit and made a dash to the staircase's railing, jumping off and dashing into the shrubbery. On the encounter, Fr. Ralph shared, "I felt something was off. He came out of nowhere, and then, he was coming right for me... I had no where to go. But just when I thought I was a goner, he ran away. I called NDPD and told them to be on the look out for a white tailed squirrel. The search continues."
