In the making: A gentleman troubadour
... Park has seen a lot over the centuries. Wait, where is St. Edward's Park? St. Edward's Park is the green space in front of St. Edward's Hall that extends from the Main Building to Zahm and Cavanaugh Halls. At one time, there was a fountain in the middle of the park along with geraniums that spelled out in cursive "St. Edward's Park." Today, the fountain and geraniums are gone, but now, there are spike ball nets, hammocks, and blankets with residents playing, studying and napping a bit too. But you can also see others taking advantage of the park, and that's exactly what Gabriel Yallaly was doing recently. Taking his guitar to the park to practice, and maybe panhandle too, Yallaly strummed away so that sweet sounds wafted in the air amid the other noise of the park. On playing his guitar in St. Edward's Park, Yallaly, Steds freshman and resident Illinoisan, shared, "Playing guitar outside with the cool air and leaves of the trees moving from the breeze beats playing in my room."
