Hostess...

... so! But sadly, it is. Yes, there is a dearth of Hostess products at LaFun's Huddle Mart. If you don't know where to look or if you blink, you'll probably pass right by the paltry offering of Hostess snacks. While a staple for many, it appears that Hostess was not for whoever is deciding on what to offer for sale at Notre Dame's only convenience mart. But what is clear- very clear- is what that person's preference is for snacks... Little Debbie. To be honest, the difference in the offerings is night and day as well as just a bit mind boggling. Really? That much? On the difference between Hostess and Little Debbie, Zach Zywiec, Steds junior, In the Red Room co-host, and resident Ohioan, stated, "Debbie is not so little after all. As a long-time supporter of the Little Debbie brand, I must admit that my allegiance remains to LD... but who doesn't appreciate some variety once in a while?"

Ed's: Not tonight Kevin

... up with Ed's? Yes, what is going on at Ed's? With the light is out and the door locked... is Ed's closed for the semester as Da' Manager, Cole O'Hara, vacays in Australia for his semester abroad? That appears to be the case, but in actuality, it couldn't be further from the truth. What's up with Ed's? Well, it's new management and being retooled all this week with a grand opening for the spring semester slated for next Sunday. On Ed's being closed, Kevin Rybinski, Steds RA, senior, ND Cheer member, and resident Marylander, said, "NOOOOOOOOOOO."

A reunion...

Tompkins: He's at it again...

... in the Big Apple. That's right. Over break, there was a reunion of sorts for two Stedsmen. Stedsman and former Hall President, Aidan Tompkins '24 reunited with PJ Carroll '25 at a New York comedy club where Tompkins was doing his "set." Not a well known fact at Steds, but as former President Tompkins was discharging his duties to King and Hall, he also had a side hustle- being a stand up comedian. It is not known if Carroll, current Steds RA, also has a side hustle like Tompkins, but regardless, as the picture shows, a fun time was had. On the comedic reunion, Carroll shared, "Aidan and I had an awesome reunion in the lower east side. His set was hilarious, and it was great to catch him somewhere other than the Linebacker Lounge. We did look a little out of place in there, but we brought some good energy.”

... from Notre Dame. Today, the residence halls opened at 9am, bringing Christmas Break to an end. Welcoming residents back was a snow. Injury to insult? No, not at all! It just wouldn't be January if there wasn't some fresh powder about. And yes, it's cold too. Enjoy, and enjoy your Sunday wherever you may be!

Saturday Squirrel.

There's no getting around it. January is a really tough month. No one knows this better than our furry friends. Enduring every cold spell, our furry friends have experienced some harsh and trying conditions. While Mother Nature is throwing her worse at our friends, know that they do have some unique countermeasures, and of them was recently spotted in a tree. Outside South Dining Hall, this squirrel demonstrated a unique way of combating the cold... the tail flop. Flopping its tail over its body, our friend was able to trap his body heat, staying just a bit warmer. On being spotted flopping his tail, this squirrel non-verbaled, "It's better than doing nothing."

Coming to a carpet near you

... the Grubhub Starship, then it was this, the autonomous carpet cleaner of Duncan Student Center. Spotted on the second floor, this autonomous machine was busy cleaning the carpet. Like the Starship, it has been hailed as a triumph, allowing limited human resources to be deployed elsewhere. While that may be true today, tomorrow, we may one day regret it as we find ourselves working for this machine! On the seeing this autonomous carpet cleaner, Fr. Ralph said, "Ah, I'll clean my own carpets thank you."

Here are honorable mentions given to various departments and offices across campus whose Christmas trees deserve a mention for efforts made. On the giving of honorable mentions, Fr. Ralph said, "They may have given it their best, but in the end, their best just wasn't good enough. Enjoy."
