Saturday squirrel.

Not messing around

A direct approach is often the best approach, and our furry friends know that too. Recently, on a campus walk, Fr. Terry Ehrman, CSC, botanist and theological, was approached by this squirrel, who then promptly stopped in Ehrman's path and extended his paws. The squirrel then promptly non-verbaled a message to Fr. Terry. On encountering this forward and direct squirrel, Fr. Terry shared, "This squirrel came out of now, and then, without saying hello, he immediately non-verbaled something right out of Oliver Twist, 'may I have some more please?!"

The man...

Better One...

... who prevented a disaster. Recently, Steds avoided a disaster that would have made the Hindenburg look like a time arrival. On Hall Photo Day, a day where the year's Hall photo is taken on the south side of the hall, a picture that immortalizes all present as it is the photo hung in the hallway of photos, the scheduled photographer could not to be found. And just when all was thought lost, enter Edgardo Rodriguez, Steds sophomore, accounting major, AND photographer. Using his professional grade camera, Rodriguez assumed the usual perch in the Main Building and took the Hall photo, saving Hall Photo Day and allowing the immortalizations to continue. While missing from a few photos as he was taking the pictures, Rodriguez was able to be in the picture (by the flag, wearing sunglasses and a black Nike sweatshirt) as an administrator snapped a few pictures. On Rodriguez saving the day, Fr. Ralph, who has two good sides for photos, shared, "He's our hero!"

What's he...

Four Montreal Musketeers: Kalicak, Bass, Cline and Bridget

... doing now? We just heard how Robert Cline '23 was received the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Easter Vigil in Boston, but what's he doing now? Well, Robert, along with his girlfriend Bridget '23 and with fellow Stedsmen, Kyle Bass '23 and Jack Kalicak '23, made his way to Montreal. Brushing up on their American Québécois, the wayfarers enjoyed all that Montreal had to offer, from the sights to the haute cuisine to the outdoors, enjoying a run. Running up the Plains of Abraham, the group took in the magnificent views of the city. On the trip north, Cline said, "bonjour de Montréal, Père Ralph!"

Bonjour indeed, Robert!

Your Sunday picture...

... Notre Dame. Here's the sunset from the south side of St. Mary's Lake. With no wind, not even a slight breeze, the lake became a mirror, reflecting the heavens in a way that only the Almighty could do. Enjoy, and enjoy your Sunday wherever you may be!

What's he...

A smiling Confirmand and girlfriend

... doing? Yes, what is Robert Cline '23, Californian and former 3rd floor RA, up these days? Well, at Easter, Cline finished his Sacraments of Initiation by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. So, at the Easter Vigil at St. Cecilia’s in Boston, with his girlfriend present Bridget '23, Cline got confirmed. What patron saint name did he take? GREAT question. On taking a patron saint name, Cline shared, “I had absolutely no choice but to take the Confirmation name of Saint Edward the Confessor. For Hall and King!”

Congratulations Robert EDWARD Cline!

Packing up and...

Southern California: Situation Normal, Beautiful

... heading west. Fr. Sorin didn't, but he sent others... and they never returned. Well, I think I know why. Yes, Steds operations have moved out west and set up shop at Newport Beach, California. And you guessed it. The sun is out, the surf's up, and there is a cool breeze coming off the ocean. You really couldn't ask for anything more. On Western Steds, Fr. Ralph said, "Oh, it's beautiful for sure... but there's no place like home!"

And the sun...

What a beautiful day!

... shines! Yes, the sun was shining over a campus that recently experienced much joy and happiness with graduation as well as tears and sadness as everything FINALLY drew to a close. And of course, there was a great amount of celebrating too! So much celebrating was there that many are probably sleeping when this picture was taken. Also, it was Move Out Day, and the Steds is officially closed. Enjoy the view, and congratulations to our Stedsmen of the Class of 2025!

With the start of summer, the Gentlemen's Monthly will be every other day.

Graduation...

Graduation Day...

... Day at Notre Dame. Today marked the one hundred eightieth commencement ceremonies at Notre Dame. Graduation ceremonies were outside in the Notre Dame Stadium, and while it was cloudy and very cool at least there was no rain. After commence ceremonies were concluded, it was time for photos… and everyone raced to the Main Building. On the graduation ceremonies in the stadium, Thomas Larson ’25, one the newest Steds Alumni, award winning filmmaker, and resident Californian, shared “It was simply awesome!”

Congratulations to our Stedsmen of the Class of 2025!
