... we have a problem. Yes, at the corner of Zahm and Keenan Halls, there is a fire hydrant; a fire hydrant that was in need of replacing. To replace this hydrant, which like Zahm Hall had become a safety issue, the water had to be turned off to Keenan, Zahm, AND Steds. Shut off promptly at 9am and despite the diligence of the maintenance workers, the water remained shut off well past Noon. When the water finally did come back on, there was much rejoicing. On the water being off for at least five hours, Owen Murphy, Steds freshman and resident Virginian, stated, "“ came to Notre Dame expecting many challenges, but I never imagined one of them would be finding water in my residence hall. A most serious inconvenience. Luckily, the Hesburgh reflecting pool offered a reprieve for my thirst.”
